The London 2012 Olympics kicked off with the four-hour spectacular opening ceremony produced by film director Danny Boyle.

The grand opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics factored heavily on British rock 'n' roll and Beatles’ music was the preferred choice. Directed by Danny Boyle the ceremony was a four-hour non-stop jaw dropping entertainment that will surely be engraved in the history of England. Even the Queen had come to witness the memorable Event.

Artic Monkeys, Paul McCartney and Two Door Cinema Club’s Alex Trimble rocked the night further with their magical performances. Arctic Monkeys sang 'I Bet That You Look Good On The Dancefloor', and The Beatles' 'Come Together', which is now available to purchase on iTunes. Paul McCartney's performance of 'Hey Jude' ended the ceremony and generated a massive singalong when he prefaced a line from "The End" -- latter-day Brit-rock heroes Arctic Monkeys covered the Fab Four's 'Come Together'.

Two Door Cinema Club frontman Alex Trimble sang 'Caliban's Dream', a song written specially for the ceremony by Underworld's Rick Smith.
Of his appearance, Trimble said: "I'm really proud of the performance. I have so much respect for the team that put it all together. Danny [Boyle] always made time to sit with me one on one and go through things and see how everything was going and with Rick we worked one on one too. In the studio, on the phone, it just felt so personal. Not like something that's gone out worldwide! I'm sure it'll take a few months for the reality to fully sink in".

The event also featured songs by The Who, The Kinks, Mud, The Rolling Stones, The Sex Pistols' 'God Save the Queen', Prodigy, Blur, The Chemical Brothers, Kaiser Chiefs, The Jam, The Specials, David Bowie, Happy Mondays, Radiohead, The Verve, and the torch lighting set to Pink Floyd's 'Eclipse'.
